This Oil Painting ” Outreach” Oil on canvas by Avril Thomas –
Dr Henry Newland AM – Clinical Director Ophthalmology Network, was painted as part of a 59-piece series. “A Day in the Life of Medicine”.

After a successful and moving exhibition at Flinders Hospital “Theatre Works”, Avril Thomas was commissioned by Adelaide University School of Medicine to make a series of paintings and drawings for the School of Medicines 125th Anniversary.

The exhibition was held at Adelaide University’s Bonython Hall. The works were also shown at the Adelaide Convention Centre and at the School of Medicine after 12 months working around the clock, painting these high-profile South Australians who have made a major contribution to medicine and health in South Australia.

This painting was on the cover of the Adelaide Review. The background scene is a view not far from Port Augusta.
